About Us

I decided to go vegan in 2017. Part of the journey is discovering just how many things are created at the expense of living beings. It's not only letting go of meat, dairy, eggs, honey, etc. Marshmallows? My favorite candies? My wallet? What about the seats in my car? And what I least expected, lip balm?! Turns out my handy dandy lip balm is made using lanolin and beeswax. What the heck is lanolin?!

As a creature of habit, I had been using one brand of lip balm for as long as I could remember. After an extensive search, I was hard pressed to find a vegan lip balm that was accessible and affordable. I thought, "well this company claims to be cruelty free, so it can't be that bad, right?" Wrong. Extracting the lanolin from the wool itself doesn't cause harm, but the process before and after, from raising the sheep to slaughter, can be horrendous.

After over a year of trying to find a new staple to keep my lips moisturized, I decided to create my own. I tried a few different recipes at home on my own. I realized it wasn't going to be feasible for the scale of change I wanted to make. So I sought out outside help. I made sure to find a manufacturer that was committed to sustainability. I also continue make sure all of the packaging I use is recyclable. I'm a sucker for cute packaging, but I came to realize it comes at a larger cost to the environment. Stickers, poly mailers, thank you cards, etc. all contribute to the waste problem we're facing as a planet. Now, you can enjoy smooth lips without harming innocent animals and our only planet. Make sure to get one for your partner too so you're not kissing sheep's wool.
